Scenic Overlook

Alleghany County...near Falling Spring
"Through the gap between Peters Mountain on the left and Lick Mountain lies the road to the Kanawha used by emigrants traveling west to the Mississippi basin. The road in the valley below follows the route Washington used when inspecting the forts along the Jackson River in 1756."

Now that's a view!

Today I am thankful to be officially starting my first day of summer vacation! The boys last day of school was on Tuesday but I had to go in for a few hours and clean yesterday...then grocery shop, run the boys and a friend around town...my house looks like a bomb went off...I am also thankful to have a whole, mostly uninterrupted day to clean haha...and perhaps a little bit of blogging of course! I'm taking a tiny break until Wednesday...I'm just so swamped with running here, running there...school gets out on Tuesday and so things shall slow down a bit, I hope! See you on Wednesday, behave but have fun!

The Great Gatsby

Entrance to The Homestead . Bath County

On Friday Nick had a Rotary Club dinner at The Homestead so he booked a room for us to stay the night...what a gorgeous old hotel...anyways, this little road leads into the hotel and we were behind this old car...I thought the whole scene was very Gatsby-esque! When we were checking in we found out that there was also a Bentley convention going on...that explained all the beautiful old cars!

The Phoenix . 813 5th St SW . Roanoke . 24016

This mural of a Phoenix is painted on the Phoenix building by Scott "Toobz" Noel...I've shown you more of his work HERE ...The Phoenix is a music venue.

In other news...who else is tired of being cold? This weather...it has been a COLD last few days. Spent a freezing day at a track meet on Saturday with such strong winds that made it so much worse...I thought we were just about done with the cold but now we have rain and low 60's for the whole week...fun :( Monday's are so much better when they aren't cold!

1) Last Friday Nick and I went to Buchanan for the start of their Civil War weekend...I thought this car parked in front of the old theater looked timely...although I don't know if the age of the car is before the theater but to me they went together ;) I've shown you more pictures over the years that we've seen the Battle of Buchanan HERE
2) A West Virginia bear hanging out in a Roanoke, Virginia front yard...this person likes bears :)

3) A Buchanan Kitty Cat

4) These 2, Christian (my son) and his girlfriend Madeline have been together 1 year today...right now they are out celebrating their anniversary with dinner at Billy's

5) As I get this post ready to roll it is Thursday evening. Dalton hurt his back over the weekend at a track meet doing the long jump. I took him to the chiropractor today and it was jammed up pretty good the dr. said so he adjusted it and Dalton is feeling much better...Ashlyn left this morning to go to Harrisonburg to see her best friend graduate from JMU (Ashlyn's alma mater) then they are heading to Hilton Head for a girl's week at the beach!

That's my 5 this week and if you joined in last week and/or this week I want to thank you! I also want to thank you for the visits and comments when my own visits and comments have been slim! I really do appreciate you and thank you for playing along! If you are new, it's easy, post 5 randoms, link back and visit others as time permits! Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend friends!
